About koskii

The word `Koskii’ means `girl’ in Nawayati. It is the spoken language of the Nawayat community whose roots can be traced to seafaring merchants and mariners from Arabia or Persia and whose ships anchored along the Uttara Kannada coastline several centuries ago. They settled here and handed down a traditional mercantile occupation that is continued within the Nawayat community even today. Our Koskii traces her roots to the early 1900’s when a successful silk and cotton textile business was established by our ancestor Abdul Rehman Badsha and his four sons in Virajpet, Kodagu. The first formal retail outlet was opened in Mercara in 1914. Since then, their in-depth knowledge, sourcing networks, retail ethics and expertise have endured and expanded to reinforce and further refine our business. Koskii today is 8 stores strong in Bangalore and is a leading brand in the ethnic women’s Occasion Wear category..
